John has been in hairdressing since 1972 and after qualifying attended the Vidal Sassoon Hairdressing Academy in London. John has worked hard in the industry and has built up an enviable reputation. John runs a friendly and efficient salon and has a passion for hairdressing that has never diminished. John is well respected for his experience and expertise and also manages and trains the staff whilst evolving the business to ensure he keeps the salon at the forefront of the changing world of hairdressing. The recent expansion and refurbishment of the salon is something which John is very proud of. In March 2006 John won Employer of the Year for Northants and East Midlands. John is a Trustee of Rothwell Preservation Trust and also a Trustee of the East Midlands Serious Injuries Trust. John's hobbies are rugby, music, photography, socialising and tending his allotment.
Shirley has been married to John since 1980 and has been in hairdressing since 1998. Shirley has two sons. After gaining her NVQ's Shirley attended the Vidal Sassoon Hairdressing Academy in London for an intensive course. Shirley has a real flair and enjoys all aspects of hairdressing and likes working with people
Shirley is also a qualified nail technician who is available for Calgel gel nails and extensions. Shirley's hobbies are going to the gym, music and reading.
Tina lives in Kettering with her husband Matt. Tina has been in hairdressing since 1990 and has qualified to NVQ L3, she has also qualified as a Trainer and Assessor in hairdressing. Tina specialises in hair up for weddings and special occasions and technical work such as fashion colouring. Tina has started a Degree in Hairdressing and Business Management at Derby University. Tina is popular and has an extensive clientele. She assists in the practical aspect of training the junior staff.
Tina is also a beauty technician who is qualified for manicures, pedicures, waxing, eyelash and eyebrow tinting. Tina's hobbies are walking her three dogs, music, shopping and Wii Fit.
Darren has been in hairdressing since 2003 and gained his NVQ Level 2 in May 2005. In 2004 he was nominated for the UK Student of the Year Award and in 2005 he won the Tresham Hairdressing Student of the Year Award, he is also a state registered hairdresser with the British Hairdressing Council. Darren is an asset to the team, he is young, enthusiastic and likes a challenge. In March 2006 Darren was a finalist in the East Midlands Achiever of the Year Awards. Darren is a good people person and is popular with the clients and has built up a loyal client base. Darren's hobbies include American Football, visiting America, music, cooking, looking after his son and tending to his allotment.
Chloe has been working at JNH full time since April 2006, although she started her hairdressing training in the summer of 2005 when she left school and attended college full time. Chloe qualified earlier in 2008 as a hairdresser and is building her reputation with her own growing clientele. Chloe enjoys all aspects of hairdressing and has good barbering skills that make her popular with the male clientele. Chloe loves socialising and going out with her friends. Chloe is always eating!! Her favourite meal is mash potato but she will eat anything you put in front of her. Chloe lives in Kettering with her fiancee, and his Mum and Dad. Chloe's hobbies are socialising with friends and Wii Fit.
Sarah joined JNH in April 2006 after completing her A levels in Oundle. Sarah lives in Northampton with her boyfriend and lovely dog (although he was not so lovely when he ate her coat!). Sarah really enjoys working at JNH (particularly because she is a secret chubby chaser and John is her ideal man!!). Sarah qualifed as a hairdresser early in 2008 and is steadily building her own clientele. Sarah enjoys all aspects of hairdressing but particularly loves colouring techniques. Sarah has now completed her NVQ L3, which will enable her to return to college in September to complete her training units. Outside of work Sarah enjoys working in the pub and going out, she also loves karaoke and will soon be auditioning for X factor!
Kelsey started working at John Newman Hairdressing and Beauty in July 2009. Kelsey is a Junior Stylist and is at the end of her training with Northampton college and Aston Academy. She lives in Desborough with her mum and her brother. Kelsey enjoys Snowboarding, Skiing and dancing. When she's got time she also enjoys modelling. At weekends she enjoys going out with her friends, and during the week she likes to relax with her boyfriend.
Patrice joined us in February 2010. Patrice trained at Northampton College until 2007 and qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy. She then went on to complete a Foundation degree in Make-up at the University of Bedfordshire, and is now also Guinot trained. Patrice lives in Kettering with her boyfriend and his Mum and enjoys socialising with her friends.
Klair joined us in 2009 as a Senior Stylist. Klair has worked in the hairdressing industry for 16 years. After training at Francesco Group of Salons, she left to work at Saks; working and training stylists in their large group of salons and teaching at The Saks academy in Covent Garden. Over the years, Klair has completed many courses with Loreal, GHD, Mark Hill, Patrick Cameron, Wella and Racoon. Klair works Thursday, Friday and Saturday at John Newman Hairdressing and Beauty, she also works part time as an external verifier for VTCT (the awarding body for hairdressing and beauty qualifications).
